Symphyotrichum novi-belgii 'Alice Haslam' (syn. Aster), Aster

Demure and diminutive – in that well-behaved, dome shape acceptable to HOAs everywhere way – but equally at home in a wilder prairie-themed perennial border. The undertones of the flowers work well with many color schemes while beguiling both late-season insects and bi-pedal garden visitors alike.  The small stature has the added appeal of remaining upright without having to be cut back earlier in the season.
